Sea Containers Hotel, London

Whenever I’m in London, I love heading to SE1 and there’s no better place to stay than Sea Containers Hotel, London.

From the moment, you walk into their stylish reception area, you are immediately taken in by the sleek design which is reminiscent of transatlantic liners of the 1920s.

Situated on the Thames River Walk, a short walk in one direction takes you in the direction of the famed Borough Market, or head the other way and you’re taking in London Icons such as Westminster Abbey and the House of Parliament as well as tourist attractions – the London Eye and London Dungeon.

During our stay, we resided in a Riverview Deluxe Room and opening the drapes gave us an iconic view which London is known for. The rooms are a great size for a London hotel and have gorgeous features such as Tom Dixon designed furnishings, gorgeous marble bathrooms with rainfall shower heads and an outstanding mini bar selection.

The hotel itself is luxurious and also home to three separate bar and restaurant venues. 12th Knot, their rooftop lounge offers panoramic views of the River Thames and is a favourite for guests and locals alike meeting for a drink after work or on the weekend. On the ground floor you find award-winning bar, Lyaness, which has an experimental cocktail list. When we visited it boasted such ingredients as Oyster Honey, Blood Curacao, Green Sauce Liqueur and Fruit Furikake. There’s also the inhouse Restaurant, also located on the ground floor which has a small but tasty food menu which changes seasonally, and is also home to the famed Sea Containers breakfast buffet each morning. Check out our separate posts about each bar and restaurant.

Any five star hotel wouldn’t be complete without a beauty spa, and Sea Containers is no exception. agua Spa London has a holistic approach to treatments and is available to both residents who are staying in house or for day guests to partake in their extensive menu or bespoke treatments.

Another great feature of the hotel is Curzon Cinema, a 56 seat screening room which is open every weekend with films curated from first-run blockbusters to classic Hollywood features.

Staff are friendly and hip, definitely not pretentious and they’re knowledgeable about all aspects of the hotel, and the surrounding areas. The hotel is situated close to London Blackfriars Station, or if you’re coming by tube, the nearest underground station is Southwark.
