Oblix At The Shard

Our last night in London, we dined at Oblix on Level 32 of The Shard and the view alone made the experience more than memorable.

The Shard is the tallest building in London, standing nearly 310 metres high with 72 levels. It’s home to luxury hotel chain, The Shangri-La, and seven different bars and restaurants, including Oblix which is separated into two sections – East and West. We chose to dine at what is known as Oblix West.

At the time of booking, you have the option of paying a few pounds extra to guarantee a window seat which I did without hesitation, even though I’m afraid of heights. The restaurant is a sophisticated space which is inspired by the New York skyline, and there is a different vibe whether you choose West or East.

Oblix West looks out to West London, and the menu reminds me of a refined Steak and Grill house, whereas Oblix East offers more of a mix of innovative dishes and cocktails.

Starting with the Beef Carpaccio to share, it was mouthwatering and paired well with mustard dressing, parmesan and herbs.

For main, I chose the Signature Oblix Pepper Steak – two tenderloins in a to die for creamy, pepper sauce. My dining partner who seemed to be on a mission to try all the Sea Bass in London, again chose this option from the a la carte menu.

For accompaniments, we couldn’t go past the Baked Potato Gratin with garlic and rosemary and the tender Roasted Heritage Carrots with mint yogurt and Moroccan spices.

Great sides to accompany our mains

We were left well satisfied with no room for a dessert so headed back to the hotel where we enjoyed a night cap at our in-house bar, Lyaness. The perfect way to top off our week in London.
