Baccarat Bar, Harrods

Starting a trip to London from the other side of the world generally means you fly in early in the morning and need to find a way to deal with the inevitable jet lag. I find one of the best ways to combat it is to celebrate with a glass of cheeky champagne at a London institution. What better place to do that than at the Baccarat Bar in the iconic Harrods store?

The moody interior showcases Baccarat’s fine craftsmanship with stunning chandeliers and drinks all served in Baccarat Crystal. The table top showcased elements of the Union flag which suited the establishment and was not at all, garish in any way.

They offer an extensive cocktail and spirits list, and a small selection of wine and champagne. A cigar menu is also on offer if you’re that way inclined.

Harrods Brut Premier Cru Champagne served in Baccarat Crystal glasses

We chose to share a Croque Monsieur, as it was lunch time after all, and asked for two glasses of Veuve Clicquot Brut to wash it down. My only criticism was that at the time of visiting, they had none in stock. Instead, we were offered a glass of Harrods Premier Cru Brut and with a £10 difference in price, our final bill was substantially cheaper which is never a bad thing, particularly when the exchange rate is so low. We found the house offering lovely and didn’t detract from our visit at all.
