Rothwell’s Bar & Grill: Fine Dining in a Historic Setting in the Brisbane CBD

On a recent trip to Brisbane we stumbled upon Rothwell’s Bar & Grill smack bang in the middle of the bustling Brisbane CBD.

Situated on the ground floor of the heritage listed building, Rothwell’s Bar & Grill’s decor is sympathetic to the heritage listed building. Entering inside you could be transported back to a Victorian smoking room, the leather banquettes and use of wood panelling, stunning lighting and drapes ensures you’re a world away from the hustle outside.

The day we dined, I was lucky enough to indulge in their decadent Cheese Soufflé whilst my dining partner enjoyed the Cured Kingfish as a Starter.

For Mains, I continued with a hearty Rigatoni with Beef Ragu and Pecorino, while in keeping with her seafood lunch, my dining partner delighted in the Orecchiette with Spanner Crab, Tomato, Chilli and Garlic with the perfect amount of heat.

We were well satisfied with our meals and found ourselves unable to indulge in any of the desserts, although if I had the room I would have definitely have tried either the Freshly baked Madeleines with Whisky Caramel Dipping Sauce or Pistachio Brûlée with Chocolate Gelato.

If it’s a leisurely long lunch or a quick cocktail in an old world setting, Rothwell’s Bar and Grill is a great place to while away some time. They’re known for their extensive wine list and renown cellar which holds more than 2,000 bottles of wine and the restaurant can cater for special occasions up to 65 guests in their private dining rooms.

Rothwell’s Bar & Grill is situated on the Ground Floor level of the Rothwell Building, 235 Edward Street, Brisbane. They’re open Tuesdays-Saturdays from 12pm-2.30pm for lunch and from 5.30pm for dinner. The bar area is open from 12pm until late.
