What is your favourite way to enjoy Whiskey? Bourbon on the rocks, neat or with a mixer? Perhaps you prefer Scotch or Irish whiskey? Whatever your preference, you’re bound to find something to your liking at Two Doctors Whiskey Tavern, found in the basement of the Fairmont Resort, Leura.
The quirky interior decked out with antique medical equipment and a cabinet filled with whiskeys on display, means there’s plenty to catch your eye and has the feel of a speak easy bar from yesteryear. There are cozy nooks with comfy couches for a friendly catch up, bar stools or low tables to share an intimate drink while listening to local musicians playing soul, blues or jazz on weekend nights. It’s particularly, a place to escape the winter chill whether you’re a guest at the hotel, or a local looking for somewhere out of the way.
Recently winning the 2022 TAA NSW Awards for Excellence for Bar of the Year, it’s not just a place to enjoy a whiskey. They also boast an extensive cocktail list featuring both classic and modern beverages as well as a bar food menu if a light meal is more what you’re after. Not overly a whiskey drinker myself, I can vouch that their wine list is great too and we shared a dry Yarra Valley Rosé.
Two Doctors Whiskey Tavern is open Thursday to Saturday from 6pm until late. There’s no need to make a booking but they do get busy around 8.30pm when the music starts, so best to arrive early to guarantee a seat. You will find the entrance down the stairs, to the right of the main entry to the foyer of the Fairmont Resort.
