Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Bar, Soho, London

Located in the heart of bustling Soho in London, Ronnie Scott’s, the legendary jazz institution was high on my list to check out. Arriving 10 minutes before our ticketed arrival time, we visited the bar area, Upstairs @ Ronnie’s. It’s a relaxed space with seating for around 70 people. As we were the first ones there, we had our pick of the tables. Selecting from the small bar food menu, we ordered a charcuterie board and a bottle of wine as we had eaten a huge lunch earlier in the day. We settled back to take in the ambience of the venue which boasts a relaxed vibe of a 1950s speakeasy. Soon we were swept away by the sounds of the soulful blues band rostered on as part of their Voodoo Lounge Monday night offering.

Yummy charcuterie board!

At Ronnie’s you find two showings for the main event each night, and a late, late show Wednesday through to Saturday with doors opening at 11.15pm, way past my bedtime!! Then there’s the Upstairs @ Ronnie’s which features different artists nightly and a wide variety of different musical genres including R ‘n’ B and hip-hop. Tuesday nights are a great time to discover new artists when they showcase unsigned musicians and bands.
