Maestro and Co, Manly

On our recent trip to Manly, we finally had the chance to check out the Middle Eastern restaurant, Maestro and Co.

The menu is designed to be shared and it’s hard to decide what to have as all of it sounds incredibly flavoursome, I suggest you go there on an empty stomach.

The grilled scallops were served with a fresh apple salsa and were plump and cooked to perfection. The harissa prawns were prepared in garlic and lemon, always a good pairing and were as fresh.

Lemon and garlic Prawns served with a harissa sauce were delicious

Meatballs in a rich tomato sauce and saffron rice is my comfort food, as I grew up with a close family friend who cooked it for me many times. Maestro and Co’s offerings were as close as I have had since then and absolutely delicious.

The exposed brickwork brings a sense of character to the restaurant and I imagine it would be quite quite dark once the sun goes down as there’s no windows beside the front facade, but tables lit by candelight make for a lovely ambience.

The wine and cocktail list is varied enough to find something to suit your palate

The night we visited, the diners were a mix of tourists and locals, it’s a place where you can grab a quick bite or linger with friends as you share as many plates as you want.

The menu caters for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diners and if you’re going with a group, they offer set menus for a minimum of six people ranging from A$49.00-A$69.00 per person which makes for a reasonably priced meal with more than enough food and variety for everyone at the table.

The amount of food we ordered was perfect. There was plenty for both of us and no leftovers, and all washed down with a crisp French rosé. I’m salivating just remembering what we ate, and it will definitely be a restaurant we will revisit when in Manly again.
